Job Description

Odyssey Semiconductor is a development stage company disrupting the power electronics industry with our vertical Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductor products. We’re seeking an experienced high-voltage power supply systems and applications engineering leader. In this role, the successful candidate will contribute to power FET product definition, design circuits and evaluation boards for both internal and customer evaluation and will provide the expertise needed to help Odyssey Semiconductor win business with our ground-breaking new technology. This role will work with the HV Power Supply Applications Engineer.

Objectives of this Role

  • PCB layout of high frequency, high-voltage power circuits and evaluation boards to assist with internal and external evaluation.
  • Assembly of evaluation boards, including soldering of components.
  • Testing of evaluation boards to ensure device characterization is completed accurately and on-time.
  • Assist in the authoring of product datasheets and application notes, streamlining the qualification and design-in processes.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong fundamentals in analog and/or power electronics testing and validation
  • 2+ years working microelectronics industry
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong working knowledge of various types of power FETs for High-Voltage AC and DC power systems
  • Strong working knowledge of various power topologies
  • Experience in electronic circuit design/development environment
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout design for mixed signal boards (Cadence, Altium, Eagle etc…) Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of scripting (Python, Shell, Unix, MATLAB, etc.) for test automation and data analysis desired

Odyssey Semiconductor is a development stage company disrupting the power electronics industry with our vertical Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductor products for power applications. We’re seeking an experienced discrete power semiconductor design engineer to work with our research and development team bring our revolutionary products from ideas to deliverable customer products. In this role, the successful candidate will deliver technically while also gaining exposure to senior leadership as the role reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer. We are looking for someone who can provide the hands-on engineering responsibilities now while having the upward potential later as the company grows.

Objectives of this Role

  • Work directly with process integration engineer and CTO to ensure products are designed to the correct specifications and qualified on-time and on-budget.
  • Work with R&D, system and applications, and marketing teams to bring to production.
  • Develop and maintain process controls. Develop and execute DOE methodology as needed to solve issues as they arise.
  • Adapt Odyssey’s novel technology to specific product specifications based on customer collaboration. Ensure products meet target specifications as well as product qualification requirements, including ESD, long-term reliability, and robustness.
  • Apply expertise to maximize the performance of the technology and to find ways to reduce the cost of each product iteration.
  • Partner with colleagues to solve technical challenges uncovered through the design and qualification processes.
  • Perform all photomask design and layout tasks, establishing metrics, methodologies, and checklists for first-pass success.
  • Review production data to look for yield enhancement, cost reduction, performance improvements and apply these learnings in future designs while also sharing with the R&D teams so they can be applied to future generations of products and technologies.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, PhD or advanced degree in the field of semiconductor devices or semiconductor material sciences preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in research and development in the semiconductor industry
  • Strong working knowledge of the semiconductor fabrication process, specifically with GaN or other III-V materials.
  • Ability to interpret physical and electrical data and the skills to use this information for problem solving.
  • Extensive experience in high-voltage power discretes.

We’re seeking an experienced process integration engineer who can evolve the processes developed by the R&D team into stable, repeatable processes to be used for high-volume manufacturing. In this role, the successful candidate will develop innovative processes to bring our revolutionary products from ideas to deliverable customer products. The successful candidate will deliver technically while also gaining exposure to senior leadership as the role reports directly to the CEO. We are looking for someone who can provide the hands-on engineering responsibilities now while having the upward potential to lead the process engineering organization later as the company grows.

Objectives of this Role

  • Work directly with the research and development team and other stakeholders to optimize the foundry process for high-volume, repeatable manufacturing.
  • Establish process freeze metrics and milestones for process qualification. Work through the qualification process ensuring it is complete on-time and on-budget.
  • Develop and maintain process controls to ensure the process remains in-control through the product lifecycle.
  • Apply expertise to bring novel devices to market.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, PhD or advanced degree in the field of semiconductor devices or semiconductor material sciences preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in research and development in the semiconductor industry. Multiple successful cycles of bringing new processes and products to high-volume, high-yield production.
  • Strong working knowledge of the semiconductor fabrication process, specifically with GaN or other III-V materials.
  • Ability to interpret physical and electrical data to engineer solutions as technical or commercial issues arise. Ability to develop test automation for process characterization and data analysis.
  • Extensive experience in high-voltage power discretes.
